I've had a bit of a sweet tooth lately and these desserts from spoon fork bacon are looking pretty good. Little sponge cakes, chocolate dipped potato chips? Yum!

i made this chicken posole recipe from real simple last night (from scratch! a first for me) and it was so good. the hint of lime and the fresh cilantro were the highlight, and it was really great with avocado. i impressed myself.

i like today: doughnuts.

sure, cupcakes are hip and delicious but doughnuts are where it's at. my love for doughnuts started with imogene's antlers and continued when we would go for longjohn doughnuts when visiting my great grandmother, sneaking down to use the basement bathroom (you had to walk through the bakery kitchen) and rifle through the cake topper boxes. these days i like to keep mine simple and get them at the neighborhood bakery fresh from the oven: a warm and crispy cake doughnut with chocolate icing hits the spot every time. i'd even like to try my hand at making my own.

another gorgeous fall day in mpls. we had a bad weather week a little bit ago, but the sun's out today and i'm glad we haven't slipped into winter quite yet.

that said, perfect night for soup. aren't these soups from cannelle et vanille gorgeous? i wouldn't mind having my meals looking (and tasting) like hers.

good eats

a quick note before signing off for the day: i made this yummy cheddar vegetable soup last week and it was so easy and delicious. it was great as leftovers, too. and we have the perfect weather for it...i think i might have to make it again this week.
